One of the 28 vehicles FoodBank SA uses to distribute food.FoodBank South Africa has a fleet of 28 vehicles and 4,000m2 of warehouse space suitable for handling and dispatching large volumes of food. In 2009, its first year in operation, FoodBank distributed more than 6,000 tonnes of food and essential non-food groceries valued at R76m.
Rescued and procured food is distributed to those in need via the agencies supported by FoodBank. The selection of agencies follows a process of assessment which is conducted by FoodBank’s Agency Department.
