The Port Elizabeth Charity Organisation was established by South African veterans returning home after World War Two. It continues to contribute to its local communities, now supported by FoodBank.

Sometimes, because FoodBank operates at a large scale, it can be hard to grasp the vital impact that we make at “the sharp end” of our project by providing food to folks who really need help.
The Ubuntu Crisis and Family Care Centre in Durban supports families ravaged by AIDS. As part of their services, they provide meals--and they're helped by a steady supply of food from FoodBank SA.
Nomaxabiso Day Care for Able and Disabled Children (“Nomaxabiso”) is a facility in Philippi East, in Cape Town. It was established in 1992 by Nontuthuzelu Nozulwana. FoodBank regularly provides food to Nomaxabiso.
FoodBank provides approximately 70% of the food put to good use by Jeannie's Soup Kitchen in the Eastern Cape.
